2007 Rewind – March/Spring Arrives
The snow drifted so deep we had to dig a trail for the chickens. Sadly, all but two chickens were killed by raccoons over the summer.

That’s sad about the chickens. Next time I see a plump raccoon waddling across the road I’ll wonder what it had for dinner.

Well, in defense of the coons, I’ll say that this was the first time I’ve had trouble with them in 12 years of raising chickens. A late frost last spring destroyed the entire mulberry crop in this area and the critters just did’nt have anything to eat.
