Has your part of the state been ravaged as much as the eastern half? I haven’t heard many weather stories from western Iowa.

My apologies for getting to your comments so late.
Not ravaged as much as soaked, though we had quite a few tornadoes earlier in the season. Lots of heavy rain & wind. And we had TWO lightning strikes within a few weeks time. The first exploded the transformer across the road from my driveway and scared a few years off my life. I was just drifting off to sleep when it hit and, I’m not kidding you, I jumped so high I was airborne.
The second hit the very large elm tree behind my house and knocked a bunch of bark off and killed some small branches. We saw an orange flash from inside the house, but it really wasn’t that loud. I’m just glad the damage to the tree wasn’t worse than it turned out to be.
I’ve had my fill for the year.
